Growth and development in surrounding areas of Vinings have generated traffic issues that require solutions to increasing congestion. Plan projects aim to encourage traffic to bypass the community using alternative routes. Others goals are to reduce delays at intersections via the use of roundabouts, new turning options, and “traffic calming” devices to improve safety.
COMPLETED PROJECTS:
Traffic flow improved on Paces Ferry Road by implementing “No left Turn” exiting from the Rite Aid store.
Safety Improved with the re-building of the lower intersection of New Paces Ferry Road and Paces Ferry Road, providing two separate turn lanes with enhanced sight distances.
Double left turn from Paces Ferry Road to Cumberland Parkway (intersection at the Rite Aid Store) to improve traffic flow.
Redesign Paces Ferry Road and New Paces Ferry Road at Randall Road intersection.
IN PROGRESS:
Road Improvements at Paces Ferry Road and New Paces Ferry Road intersection, including new left turn lane from Paces Ferry to New Paces Ferry Road (under review by Cobb County DOT).
A “Vinings Bypass” with signage to route traffic around the Vinings Village area and possible variable signs on Cobb Parkway and Cumberland Boulevard to warn motorists of oncoming trains. (Under review by Cobb County DOT).
Left turn arrow at the intersection of Paces Mill Road and Paces Ferry Road to allow motorists going westbound on Paces Mill Road to make a left turn onto Paces Ferry Road. (Under review by Cobb County DOT).
Construction of Woodland Brook Drive and Paces Ferry Road Roundabout to replace existing signalized 3 legged intersection for safety, improved traffic flow and aesthetics. (Funding in Cobb 2016 SPLOST).
Woodland Brook Drive over Vinings Branch—replace deficient bridge with culvert (Funding in Cobb 2016 SPLOST).
Redesign Cumberland Boulevard from Akers Mill Road to Spring Road as part of Vinings Bypass. (Funding approved by GDOT and CDOT).
